Denying, dismissing, and/or questioning the existence of bisexuality as a legitimate sexual orientation. Bisexual erasure also includes the pervasive mislabeling of bisexual people as either straight or gay based on the identity of their past and present partner(s) and/or claiming bisexual people are confused, straight and going through a phase, or in denial about being gay. This stigma occurs within and outside of LGBTQ+ communities, contributing to adverse mental health outcomes.
